Kiran Ahluwalia

Kiran Ahluwalia

2005-06-28

The international debut album from this Indian-born, Canadian-raised vocalist.

The new self-titled album holds a batch of remixed highlights from Kiran’s two previous independent releases - the most recent of which earned the 2004 Juno Award for Best World Music Recording.

Ahluwalia is essentially an interpreter of “ghazals”, an ancient poetic style of sung verse popular on the Indian sub-continent. Two new tracks featuring Cape Breton fiddler Natalie MacMaster help to broaden the global scope of the effort.
