Greg Brown

The Evening Call

2006-08-07

Greg Brown releases his first album in over 4 years and for Brown fans everywhere, it will not disappoint. Deemed as one of his most thoughtful and realized albums of his career, Greg Brown mixes country, blues, and folk genres to create a meaningful artistic album. Standout tracks include number 6 “Treat Each Other Right” which sounds like a slowed down version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Red House”, the title track (track 2) “Evening Call”, track 8 “Coneville Slough”, and track 10 “Pound It On Down”. Brown takes his folk voice and mixes it well with instrumentation from himself and his backing band. What captures the essence of this album is Brown’s deep throaty voice that shows the emotion with every song. Lane Zoerhof
