Memento

Pascal Ohsé first came to the attention of American audiences as the featured trumpeter on the albums of French producer Saint Germain.

Now he makes his solo recording debut as Soel, a name he selected to honor his West African heritage.

His new disc is Memento, a mix of jazz and electronic beats that’s a throw-back to ‘60s and 70’s funk, the era that inspired Soel to become a musician.

On the album, he also samples heavily from the work of New York City spoken-word duo The Last Poets.
