Stephin Merritt

Showtunes

2006-04-05

Ever been off the edge before? This is where you end up. This is indescribable, but certainly has a feeling to it, and some points of interest. Its funny, tongue-in-cheek, and serious. One could liken this to TMBG, but only if you are able to throw in a little Woody Allen and some Lin Xu. The 26 songs that make up this collection are culled from three collaborative productions between Merritt and Chinese theater director Chen Shi-Zheng. Try to resist the urge to play track 4.
