Alpha Blondy

Elohim

2005-02-07

In 1999, the Ivory Coast, once one of Africa’s most stable and prosperous countries, underwent a military coup that threw the nation into turmoil. The country is still divided north to south, with tensions running high between the newly established regime of President Laurent Gbagbo and Rebel Forces.

Amid this backdrop of strife, the Ivory Coast’s, and perhaps Africa’s best-known reggae star, Alpha Blondy, released Elohim, an album confronting the conflict head-on, challenging the various factions involved.

Alpha Blondy’s internationally best-selling album now makes its way to the United States, thanks to Shanachie Records.
