The Broken West

I Can't Go On, I'll Go On

2007-02-28

Although the fact that this band has existed for only a little over two years should be taken into consideration, you might altogether forget this granule of information upon hearing just a few of the songs from their beautifully-crafted debut full length, I Can't Go On, I'll Go On. The Broken West draw heavily from West Coast classic rock and current guitar-oriented indie pop/rock, namely Chicagoan contemporaries Wilco, whose album Summerteeth almost plays like an instruction manual for the making of TBW's record. Although the quality of the songs is, bottomline, the most important aspect when deciding a band's ultimate worth, The Broken West's 'underage' status in the world of rock music can only make us think of, and look forward to, what awaits us.
