Originally a member of Dizzy Gillespie’s band, Gonzalez has played trumpet and flugelhorn with many bands as well as having produced over ten of his own albums since the late 1970s. In this recording, his Cuban roots put a new spin on the music of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
