Grubstake is a dirty, dirty band. And I mean that as a compliment. Combining the best sounds of the Black Keys, the White Stripes, and T Rex, they write pared down songs that resonate in your very gut. This is a best of (bestest of) CD on which every song but one (Neil Young's "Albuquerque") is an original. No horns, no strings, no keyboard, just gritty guitars, drums, and vox. Standout tracks are #1, #2, and #4. We no can play #3 or #12 as they contain words not meant for the delicate listener. Have a good time with this disc, I think it's what Patrick McHugh and co. intend for you to do. -Carol-BLACK LIPS
