Chan Marshall is “Cat Power.” The Greatest is her tribute to the 70s music she grew up with. She got Al Green’s guitarist who co wrote “Love and Happiness” and “Take me to the River,” among other classics. Also contributing is Steve Potts, who replaced “Booker T and the MGs” late drummer. On The Greatest you’ll hear the “Cat Power” sound infused with Memphis horns, funky string arrangements and smooth background vocals.
