DIRTY BOURBON RIVER SHOW

Volume Four

2013-10-11

Any band endorsed by Gwar is going to have my ear. That doesn't mean that Dirty Bourbon River Show makes hard rock,  although they do seem to have a punk mentality.  The band describes its sound as "New Orleans Gypsy Brass Circus" and I am inclined to agree with that description.  For the band's seventh release, strangely entitled Volume Four, the brass band throws together a rough mix of funny lyrics, odd time signatures and even odder vocals, backed by horns and percussion.  The guys know their stuff, and I can appreciate the musicianship here. The best thing about it, though, is it's all done with a devil-may-care attitude that makes me think that the band is out for a good time and might just entertain you in the process.
