KAKI KING

...Until We Felt Red

2006-07-24

A trippy album reminiscent to an Eisley meets Cat Power, Kaki King turns in a powerful album that soothes the soul one moment and rocks the next. This is the third offering from King, who as transformed her sound from just an acoustic guitar to more instruments including her voice, which adds more beauty to her already beautifully crafted sound. The opening track “Yellowcake” is an ideal indie radio hit. Track 5, “Jessica” is another standout track that brings to mind Mazzy Star. Track 13, entitled “Gay Sons of Lesbian Mothers” is a great rock instrumental that sums up the brilliance of King’s genius. Lane Zoerhof
