I couldn’t think of a better title to this disc then “Fire It Up” because it sizzles from the opening note. The opening track ‘Nothin’ But The Blues” expresses the joy that only the blues can bring. “Come On Over To My BBQ” is saucy blues at its very best filled with double entendres such as “I’m gonna put up my tenderloins and let you fire up my grill” It left me wondering what would be left for dessert. “Skinny Chicks” may be Laurie’s answer to the Fiona Boyes track “Celebrate the Curves”. “Let Me Carry Your Troubles” has an almost Rory Block sound to it and certainly represents the heartfelt sensitive side of Laurie Morvan. This Gal from California certainly can play a screaming’ guitar, write great blues songs, and lead her top notch band through twelve tracks of sizzling blues. My recommendation is grab this disc and Fire It Up!!! Reviewed By: Gregg SaurThe Living History Band
