E1SBAR’s hook, along with their digitized German name, is that the two members, Piper Davis and Francisco Cuerto, live in separate cities and have reportedly never met nor spoken. There is a resultant deep romance of distance at play in “Looser Futurism,” one emphasized by the duo of astronauts never quite catching up with each other on the album artwork. The music is electronic that sounds both interstellar and homey. The opening track “In Bronze” drops the listener down a virtual well, letting them rise for air only for the slow swagger of “Long Bow” before heading straight into one of my new favorite songs of 2017, “Cold Love of Rococo.” Late album is slower, more atmospheric, but still thoroughly lovely. Definitely a band to look out for. For fans of Grimes, Chvrches, and the "Drive" soundtrack. Pros: album pacing, strong singles. Cons: major slowdown in last five tracks. Primest cuts: “In Bronze” “The ‘So Long’ Gemini” “Cold Love of Rococo”
