The Sparrow and the Crow “The Sparrow and the Crow,” William Fitzsimmons’ third release, is an apologetic, quiet collection of minimalist compositions that don’t concern themselves with lyrical subtlety. Simple harmonies, airy vocals, and finger picking form the album’s skeletal structure. Appearing after two self-produced albums, this, his first studio release is sure to remind listeners of the vocal and instrumental performances of artists like Iron and Wine’s Sam Beam or possibly some of Sufjan Stevens’ quieter compositions. Fans of such acts are likely to enjoy this release. “The Sparrow and the Crow” is available in 2008 from Dark Sparrow Records.JASON COLLETT
