Bob Merrill and Roswell Rudd

Cheerin' Up The Universe

2015-09-18

I must say this is my type of music. I could listen to this album just about all day long with no issues at all. As always Bob throws in some really good trumpet playing and when you add John Medeski into the mix this is definitely a winning combination. Other guests on this album include George Schuller, Drew Zingg, Nicki Parrott, Matthew Fries, and Russ Gershon. My favorite cover on this album was Randy Newman's "Let's Drop The Big One." Bob kind of changes the lyrics a little bit to make it more modern day, but what a killer tune. He also does some tunes by the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor and believe it or not Pharell. I loved this album over all, i thought it was pretty good.
