THE ICICLES

Arrivals & Departures

2007-03-13

Local indie-poppers, The Icicles, are sweet as spun sugar, and they have some colorful tunes — bubblegum pink "La-Ti-Da" and sunshine yellow "Snowbird," in which the band members take an opportunity to plug their home state ... "Since we're in Michigan, summer may never begin." These musicians, who perform in matching outfits, aren't just popular in Michigan, though. This is the band's follow-up to their first full-length release A Hundred Patterns and the hit "Sugar Sweet," which was featured in a Motorola commercial. The happy-go-lucky sounds of the Icicles are reminiscent of ‘60s girl groups, with hints of longing and sadness. -Sarah Cosgrove
