Mary Karlzen

The Wanderlust Diaries

2007-03-05

This talented artist who has previously toured with Bob Dylan and John Hiatt is continuing to personally progress musically and artistically with this stripped-down album. Notably, Karlzen successfully covers Tom Waits’ “Heart of Saturday Night” on track 8 and Paul Westerberg’s touching “Skyway” on track 3 without forcing anything. Her alternative, country-rock style is truly defined in the features on this album, which are 2 “Straws,” 4 “Oh My,” and 9 “Friends Along the Way.” -Jake Burritt
