Ramiro Musotto

Civilizacao & Barbarye

2008-01-16

Ramiro Musotto : Civilizacao & Barbarye : Circular Moves Having worked with Brazilian music moguls Sergio Mendes and Caetano Veloso in the past, Argentinean-turned-Brazilian Ramiro Musotto paves his own way on one string alone. The string in question is the single string belonging to the berimbau, the instrument of choice for Musotto. Considered a defining recording for the instrument, one can liken this record to the berimbau the way Clara Rockmore’s Art of the Theremin can be likened to that ethereal, pioneering, electronic instrument. All tracks suitable for airplay. Reviewed by Trevor Edmonds : January 2008
