THE VIRGINS

Strike Gently

2013-03-04

What I expected from a band called The Virgins was hard core garage rock. What I got was mid-tempo rock that consists of male vocals, sometimes with vocal harmonies, fronting guitar, drums, and bass to make mildly entertaining rock and roll. While this is fine for a listen, it offers nothing to make me want to come back for more. Strike Gently is this New York band's second full-length release and the fact that it's on Julian Casablancas' Cult Records might be the most intriguing thing about it. Rebecca Ruth
