The Frank and Joe Show

33 1/3

2004-07-14

The Frank and Joe Show consists of guitarist Frank Vignola (Mark O'Connor's Hot Swing Trio) , percussionist Joe Ascione and a host of horn players and percussionists along with guests Dr. John, Jane Monheit and Janis Siegel who add vocals to this mostly instumental release.

This is a wildly diverse offering with cuts by Cole Porter, The Doobie Brothers, Gilbert O'Sullivan and Hoagy Carmichael.

The group's label notes that there's gypsy swing crossed with breezy island grooves, American high country infused with modern jazz and classic pop standards filtered through acoustic roots improvisation.

Who are we to argue?
