THE MOTHERS

Township Sessions

2007-04-30

The Philani Nutrition Project is a community-based nonprofit healthcare and nutrition program for kids based in township and squatter communities in a poor region of Cape Town, S. Africa. The Philani Mothers formed a choir and put out a benefit CD 12 years later in 1998, a collection of acapella songs. The master tapes have formed the backbone for this album, a Various Artists project formed to create awareness and funds for the Philani, while extolling the values of care, welfare, and optimism. –P
