On April 22, 2023, Jump Ahead hosted a first-of-its-kind NBA 2K Esports competition at the Four Star Theatre in Grand Rapids, MI. The event was free and open to the public, and competitors vied for a cash prize of $1000 and a chance to compete in a future NBA-sponsored esports tournament.
Ferris State University was the title sponsor of the event, and other sponsors included the American Cancer Society; PFCU Credit Union; McDonalds; West Michigan Sports Commission; Voting Access For All; AmplifyGR; and Proactive Project. Filming and production services were provided by GRTV.
