Remembering Oscar Zuniga (click for more info)

Today's WYCE Day Sponsorship honors the life and legacy of Oscar Zuniga, WYCE's longest-serving host and programmer.

Oscar passed away recently at 96 years old and he will be missed by many.

Oscar Zuniga's voice was the first voice broadcast on WYCE in its current format in 1987. However, Oscar's tenure extends back through the chain of broadcast outlets overseen by Wyoming Public Schools as far back as January of 1979.

Oscar didn't have a particular programming philosophy,  according to his son Richard, "He just thinks it's a good idea to be kind to people, because it all comes back around."

Oscar referred to himself on his show as  "The official for the hard-working people." *La oficial de la gente trabajadora

All of us at WYCE Community Radio are most grateful to Oscar for his tireless dedication to the radio station, his loyal listeners, for his kind heart and wonderful smile.
