Upon Release He Recorded Several Sides In 1945, Returning To The Clubs Of Houston As His Rustic Style Was Overwhelmed By The New Sounds Coming Out Of Chicago. The Folk/Blues Revival Brought Hopkins A Whole New Audience Thirsty For The Stripped Back Pain And Despair Of Authentic Blues. His Late In Life Recordings Are Considered Must-Have Essentials For All Blues Fans. Samuel John 'Lightnin' Hopkins Is A Blues Pioneer, Passing On With The Shackle Scars On His Ankles, And A Deep Scar From A Stabbing Wound To His Chest At the Age Of 69 (1982)
