You might have heard The Rapidian is back! And now The Rapidian is looking for passionate writers to join their team as volunteer reporters. 

The Rapidian aims to elevate local voices and foster civic engagement by creating space for community participation in reporting on topics that matter to them. Volunteer with the Rapidian and join them in sharing the stories that matter in Grand Rapids.

West Michigan's Biggest Night of Music, the WYCE Jammie Awards, returns for its 24th year on Friday, February 23^rd, at the Intersection! 

This year's Jammies will feature 19 Michigan bands on three stages with award presentations for Best Album of 2023, Song of the Year, the Listener Choice Awards, and more, including the brand new Against All Odds Award presented by Varnum Law. 

For the first time, The WYCE Jammies will be offering a VIP experience, which includes access to a private lounge and viewing area, a Jammies 24 shirt, and a signature cocktail courtesy of Stock 'Da Bar Vodka.

Doors for this all-ages event open at 5:30 pm, and music starts at 6. Entry is a suggested donation of $5, and we will also be collecting canned donations at the door for Feeding America West Michigan.

The 2024 WYCE Jammies 24 are presented by Varnum Law... with additional support from Founder's Brewing, Tiger Solar, Patriot Realty, Vertigo Music, and Stock 'Da Bar Vodka. 

Support for WYCE comes from Section Live presenting Scythian (Sith-ee-yin) at Elevation at The Intersection.

Celtic rock band Scythian will be performing on Saturday March 9th, with support from Stillhouse Junkies.

The Kent County Health Department (KCHD) is offering free radon test kits to residents throughout January as part of National Radon Action Month.

Radon, a radioactive gas, is undetectable by sight, smell, or taste but it can kill. The only way to know if radon is in your home is through testing. This is an ideal time to test your home as windows and doors are sealed for the winter. 

The Kent County Health Department recommends all homes be tested every two to three years.

Radon testing kits are available during regular business hours at: 

• Kent County Health Department on Fuller Avenue NE; 
• The Kent County Health Department North County Clinic in Cedar Springs; 
• Sheldon Complex Clinic, on Franklin SE
• The Health department's South Clinic located on Kalamazoo SE in Kentwood

Only one radon test kit per household will be provided.
