Blues Plate Special: Yank Rachell; March 16, 1910 TN - April 9, 1997 IN - The Mandolin And Yank Rachell Are Synonymous With The Blues. From The Late 1920' s Jug Band Craze To The Urbanization Of The Blues In '30's Chicago. Onward To The 60's Folk/Blues Revival And Almost To The End Of The Century, Yank Added A Twist To The Music With His Instrumental Skills And Impeccable Good Taste. He Toured Around The Delta With Sleepy John Estes And Hammie Nixon. Rachell Found Steady Session Work In Chicago, Recording Solo For Several Labels and Releasing Fourteen Records by 1941. The Folk/Blues Revival Was In Full-Swing When Yank Hooked Up Once Again With Sleepy John And Hammie, This Time As The Tennesse Jug Busters; In Great Demand 'Til Sleepy John Passed Away In 1977. Yank Continued On For Twenty More Years, Working On An Album When He Passed In 1997.
