Blues Spotlight - Atlanta's Thriving Blues Scene During The 1920s Was A Perfect Fit For The Piedmont Picking Style Of Curley Weaver. Befriending Other Streetcorner Players, Weaver Along Buddy Moss, Blind Willie McTell, Peg-Leg Howell And Charlie Hicks Formed A Loose Collective Known As The Georgia Cotton Pickers, Performing Throughout the Deep South In That Configuation For A Couple Of Years. At The Turn Of The Decade Weaver Recorded His Only Regional Hit With Barbecue Bob, But The Records Curley Made With Buddy Moss As They Accompanied Blind Willie McTell On His Classic, Timeless Recordings In The 30s Are Important Examples Of Piedmont Blues. After World War II Weaver Returned To Atlanta,Making His Final Recordings In 1949. He Worked For A Railroad Until He Became Blind In The 1950s. Curley James Weaver Also Known As Slim Gordon Passed On In 1962.
