Blues Spotlight: Johnson's Primary Era Of Recording Activity As A Vocalist Was Over Four Years Beginning In 1923. She Had Made Her Name In Vaudeville, Played With New Orleans Jazz Ensembles which Included Sidney Bechet, Louis Armstrong And Clarence Williams. Miss Johnson Is Often Lumped Together With Many Female Classic Blues Singers From The '20's, But Her Career Was Bit More Diverse, Making Records With A Strong Country Blues Influence. 1927 Saw the Last Of Her Recordings. No Record Of Margaret Johnson's Birth Or Passing Is Known.
