Blind Willie McTell

Broke Down Engine, Take 3 (1933)
Recorded Works, Vol. 2 (1931-1933) 1990 via Vocalian
a note about this track

Willie McTell Is Rightly Revered As One Of The Giants Of Early Acoustic Blues. With A Stylish 12-String Fingerpicking And Slide Guitar, Blind Willie Can Lay Claim To Many Blues Classics; His Influence, Undeniable. McTell's First Recording Session Took Place 1927; Among The Four Tracks Was An Early Version Of "Statesboro Blues," One Of The Many In Blind willie's Canon That Would Go On To Become Blues Standards. Ironically For A Man Who Performed Under So Many Names, His Gravestone Is Engraved 'Eddie McTier'' As The Mason Mistook The Name Of Willie's Cousin, Who Ordered The Stone For The Man Who Would Lie Under It. No Doubt The Good-Natured McTell Would Have Made A Great Song Out Of That! William Samuel McTier Passed On 1959
