Born In Brownsville And Orphaned As A Child, Nixon's Early Influence Was Noah Lewis, Who Went On to Play With Gus Cannon's Jug Stompers In Memphis. It Was During the Mid-1920's Hammie Teamed Up With Yank Rachell And Sleepy John Estes, And The Trio Traveled Around The Delta Juke Joints And To Chicago Where The Recording Opportunities Increased As the Decades Rolled On. After The Passing Of Estes, Hammie Continued As a Member Of The Beale Street Jug Band. Hammie Nickerson Passed On 1984
