The Dockery Plantation, Just A Few Miles From Clarksdale Mississippi, Was Home To The Giants Of Early Delta Blues, Charley Patton, Son House And Tommy Johnson. Johnson Is Perhaps The Least Well Known Of The Big Three With A Recording Career Amounting To Only Fourteen Songs, But His Contribution To Country Blues Is Enormous And Cultural Links Back To Africa Are Clearly Important, Witnessed By His Falsetto Singing; A Prominent West-African Retention In The Blues That Skip James Would Later Exploit. A Composer Of Several Blues Standards, Accomplished Guitarist And Premier Delta Blues Vocalist Of His Day, Anything Resembling A Career Took A Backseat To The Whiskey And Women In Johnson's Life. Tommy Johnson Passed on 1956 - His Influence Resonates To This Day.
