Kate Dernocoeur (click for more info)

Support for WYCE comes in honor of the challenging work done by Public Defenders everywhere.

These lawyers are on the front line of social justice, keeping the promise made by the 1963 US Supreme Court case Gideon v. Wainwright that led to legal counsel for indi-gent defendants in criminal cases.

Today's personal day sponsor, Kate Dernocoeur, honors the birthday of one such public defender -- her daughter.

Go, Melody! Your work matters. And happy birthday.
