SCMC - Joey Alexander (click for more info)

St. Cecilia Music Center is pleased to present jazz piano prodigy Joey Alexander TOMORROW NIGHT as part of the 2017 jazz series.

At twelve years old, Joey Alexander has been nominated for three Grammy Awards; featured on the CBS Show "60 Minutes"; and has performed at the White House, the Grammy awards show, Lincoln Center, and at jazz festivals around the globe.

Born in Bali, Joey first encountered a piano at the age of six, and was immediately able to pick out by ear the melody of jazz standards from his father's record collection. Learning by listening, Joey was playing jazz festivals by the age of eight. His early influences include Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Wynton Marsalis, who calls Joey "the real deal."

The young prodigy with the soul of an old jazz musician performs at St. Cecilia Music Center tomorrow at 7:30pm.

The Acoustic Café Folk Series continues at St. Cecilia Music Center - Thursday April 6th - with a show by country music's rising star sensation Margo Price and her full band.

Margo's debut album "Midwest Farmer's Daughter" marks the arrival of a singular new talent. It was recorded at the legendary Sun Studios and is an invitation, a mission statement and a starkly poetic summary of the 32-year old singer's life.

Her music recalls hardships and heartaches. Her voice is an alluring mix of vulnerability and resilience, calling to mind the likes of Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton.
