LamentAn Dro & Friends - The Music Of James Spalink 2015 via Independent
Duet with William Bell.
Today's WYCE Artist of the Day is the multiple Grammy Award–winning American rock band from East LA - Los Lobos. Formed back in 1973, the band members were unsatisfied with playing only American Top 40 songs, and began experimenting with the traditional Mexican music they listened to as children. This style of music received a positive reaction from audiences, leading the band to switch genres, performing at hundreds of weddings and dances between 1974 and 1980.They did however, take notice of the popular groups on the Hollywood music scene, and added influences of rock to its sound. Originally, they called themselves Los Lobos del Este (de Los Angeles) ["The Wolves of the East (of Los Angeles)"]. The name was quickly shortened to Los Lobos. 20 some albums, 3 Grammys and 40 years later current members are: David Hidalgo, Louie Pérez, Cesar Rosas, Conrad Lozano, Steve Berlin, and Enrique Gonzalez. Los Lobos will release their new album Gates of Gold on September 25th.
