Today’s WCYE Artist of the Day is Beirut. Beruit is an American band. It began as the solo musical project of Santa Fe native and trumpet player Zach Condon. Most of the material for the band’s first album Gulag Orkestar, was recorded in Condon’s bedroom. Condon recruited some friends to play the music live for the first shows in New York, and Beirut was born. Beruit’s music is a mix of Balkan folk, world, indie folk, electronica, baroque pop. Beirut has announced their fourth album, No No No, to be released September 11, 2015.
