AOTD Monday, Jan 26 - Belle and Sebastian Belle and Sebastian are an indie pop band formed in Glasgow, Scottland in January 1996. Current members - Stuart Murdoch, Stevie Jackson, Chris Geddes, Richard Colburn, Sarah Martin, & Bobby Kildea. Led by Murdoch, they've released 9 albums. They are often compared with acts such as Nick Drake. The name "Belle and Sebastian" comes from Belle et Sébastien, a 1965 children's book by French writer Cécile Aubry. The band won the Brit Award for Best Newcomers back in 1999. And though consistently lauded by critics, Belle and Sebastian's "wistful pop" has enjoyed only limited commercial success. Their new album Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance, is probably their most sonically diverse album.
